Where Nathan plays a video game
I dreamed I was watching a play called Roxie. It starred Katharine Hepburn and some other famous actress named Audrey Umber, except they didn't show up until the very end. Then they did show up, and Katharine said, "Aren't you glad for all the new friends you've made today?" To which Audrey replied, yes, and began listing them all: "Billy, and Danny, and..." When she finished the list, Katharine said, "You forgot Roxie!" Audrey gasped and said, "Oh, dear! I'll try again." She repeated the entire list, stopping halfway through to say, "I'm trying not to forget Roxie!" but she forgot Roxie again . . . so she had to do the whole thing over again. This happened about three more times. Katharine just kept getting madder and saying things like, "Just spit it out!" I then read a review of this play, and someone said, "This is what I love about the old movie actresses. They can be funny without repeating the same thing over and over!"
Then it switched to real life, and I was watching Nathan play some video game with a main character named Benton, who was out in the middle of a field. Right in front of him was a fireplace, and to his far right was a cafeteria. Nathan was going to make his character "exit east," but for some reason I wanted his character to only take two steps east and then sit down in front of a cabinet. When Nathan asked me why I wanted him to do this, I said, "Well, that's what they did in the play!" So he tried to take two steps east (except, er, in actuality he was going west) and then it popped up a screen that said "EXIT EAST?" so he chose yes, and this is what his character did - took two steps to the left, five steps down, about twelve steps to the right, and then seven steps up into the cafeteria.
The game was full of Engrish and nonsensical dialogue, too. At one point a unicorn showed up. When someone told Benton, there was this exchange: "There's a unicorn." "A unicorn?" "Yes. (Closing his eyes and pounding his forehead with his hand) But sometimes I lose control of him with my mind!"
Then, later, Benton went to go find the unicorn, who had turned into a horse. When he found him, Benton's line was, "Well, whatever you do, don't find a unicorn and merge with him and make yourself a unicorn! Bye."
