With theater gangs and the runaway little girl
I dreamed that there were these two rival gangs in the theater department at HU. If you EVER tried to do the same scene or monologue as someone in the other gang in the same year, you would probably be killed. One girl was the other group was doing a scene from Company that apparently involved her running up and down the halls crying hysterically. Well, I was really sad that day for some reason, so I ran up and down the halls of the MCA crying hysterically. The girl told me that I would be killed for this.

This stressed me out quite a lot (as you can imagine) so I decided to go to class to calm down. I couldn't find my backpack though, and looked all over the MCA. I ended up accidentally stepping on a pile of newspapers, and someone screamed. Turns out it was Bryce, who was napping there. I apologized and kept looking.

At some point I was going to see this production of Company in the studio theater here, and my parents were here, too. As soon as the lights went up, my parents BOLTED out a side door. I was embarrassed at first but then I realized that a little African-American girl in a frilly white tutu (about 10 years old or so) had run out the side door first and was trying to throw herself over a railing to the cement floor below. My parents grabbed her and brought her back to her seat, but she just kept running out there. For some reason we all in the audience thought this was the funniest thing in the entire world, and I laughed until I cried. When I woke up, I was still laughing.

Where I visit NLDC for an hour and wait forever for Dad
I dreamed NLDC was really only 5 hours away, so one day I decided to visit them, but it was just going to be for a couple hours. I'd leave at like 7 so I'd get there around noon, but then Mom wanted me back by suppertime so she told me I needed to leave by one. I tried to negotiate with her to let me stay and have supper with them and THEN drive back, but she really wanted me to leave between 1-2 in the afternoon.

There was also something really ominous with an ice cream shop... I think I was waiting there for Dad to pick me up and take me home from something. He was only about 20 minutes away so I waited for a really long time and finally, I called Mom to ask if he had left yet because he was two hours late. She said yeah, he left about two hours ago, but she didn't seem concerned at all that he hadn't made it there yet. I went to go get some food from the ice cream shop, but they were closed. The two employees were still there, though, and started looking for the copy of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy that they kept behind the desk. They told me that the best way to calm me down would be to read that to me. (It was the Douglas Adams book, not the book mentioned IN the Douglas Adams book. The second one would have been more helpful, given the "DON'T PANIC" on the cover.)

Where Philip Seymour Hoffman dresses up as an 8-year-old
I dreamed Philip Seymour Hoffman was doing a publicity stunt where he tried to pass himself off as an 8-year-old boy named Kenneth. He over to my house and played in our giant pool where he basically was a disgusting idiot and peed and vomited in it, but my parents wouldn't make him leave. They kept saying, "He's just a sad little boy with no family," and I was like, "He is NOT a sad little boy! He's PHILIP SEYMOUR HOFFMAN!"

Where I'm trying to get to Travis's graduation party
I had an extremely complicated dream that mostly revolved around trying to make it to Travis's graduation party. One time it turned into an episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. All these birds started dying in the air and just dropping to the ground. Then dead sheep and bugs dropped from the sky. A flea bit some supporting character who doesn't exist in the real show, and it sucked ALL his blood from his face, and he turned brown and looked like he was made out of crumbly marble. He was still alive, but he wasn't able to talk or really do anything with his face. And Buffy was acting totally weird and licking things and being no help at all.

Then Dad and Uncle Andy and I were walking through a shop and I realized it was a Buffy-themed shop. I thought, "I should totally get Travis something from here! He's such a Buffy fan!" (Which he's not.)

Then I was driving my dad to Sauk, when I realized I really needed to get to that party. I drove what I thought would be the way there, but I ended up going over a little river in a ferry and ending up in a little amusement park on an island. Mom was there, and Dad said he'd just ride to school with her, so I could make it to my party.

I ran back over the river which really wasn't all that deep, and ran up the stairs, where I gave a little ticket to the blind ticket collector, who was just sprawled out on the stairs leading up to the land. He was blocking half the stairway but was just taking tickets from there. I also talked to a little girl while I was trying to get to my car, but I don't know what happened there.

I drove until I found myself at a steakhouse. I went in and there were a bunch of people I knew, including a guy who I thought was Travis until I looked a little closer. Beth A. and Tyler were both there as well, and they told me I should hang out with them for awhile. But I knew I really needed to get to Travis's party and only had like a half hour left. So I inexplicably sang them a song about how I'd be back in like 15 minutes.

When I went outside, I couldn't find my car. I looked for it everywhere in the parking lot but couldn't find it. Then I realized the crew from inside would probably try to sabotage my car because I was leaving them. I looked and, sure enough, they were siphoning gas out of a red car. I chased them off and then realized they'd gotten the wrong car anyway, my car was right behind that one.

I got in it and started to drive but couldn't figure out how to make it to Travis's from here. Suddenly I was driving using a steering wheel in the back seat of the van, with people smooshed all around me, including Lococo. Joel and Elizabeth were in the seats ahead of me and I was getting very frustrated that I couldn't see over their heads as to where I was going. They kept yelling, "Turn here!" and I'd try to turn but then they'd yell, "NOT THERE!"

Where I go book shopping before we go to Rhode Island
I dreamed we were flying to Rhode Island for a cousin's wedding (not sure whose) and decide to stop by a bookstore before we went to the airport. This bookstore was run out of a neighbor's garage and once it had been just like a series of books on worshipping the dead, but now there were all sorts of books. I went through picking up books and then realized I didn't have any cash with me, so I asked Nathan to go back to the house and get some. When he came back, Mom was with him. She looked at my stack of books and told me I wasn't allowed to get any with toys attached. For some reason I had picked up all these little kid books that DID have toys included with them, so I sullenly threw them all in a pile since I wasn't allowed to have them. I went up to pay for the books and saw that they DID take Discover credit cards, although mine's a Visa, and there was something there about accepting debit cards, but it was pretty much super confusing, like you had to text your bank and ask them to put money in your account by saying "SHUFFLE [however much money you wanted]."

At another point in the dream we were packing the van like we were going on a road trip, although we were just going to the airport. Dad told each of us to bring two pillows and a blanket for the plane, but then gave us a huge lecture on how ANYTHING we brought in the van had to stay in our seat with us.

Where I let the kids watch an evil movie
I dreamed I had some extremely gory slasher movie on my laptop and decided to let the kids watch it, except halfway through I decided it was a bad idea, so I turned it off. Then I felt stupid for letting the kids watch it, so I made them promise not to tell Mom and Dad.

Where we stay at Jason Robert Brown's house
I dreamed that our whole family was going on some sort of vacation where we would stay for a long period of time with Jason Robert Brown and his family, except he had seven kids. I arrived two days later than everyone else, and Dad brought me down to the basement to meet JRB. He was sitting at a piano writing music. I was a little awestruck and tried to ask him a serious question, but he kept saying completely random things to me that confused me a lot. At one point he asked me what my favorite show was (I'm not sure whether he meant of his, or ever - it'd be the same answer either way) and I got flustered and answered, "All of them," and he nodded sagely and said, "Yes, me too."

In the meantime, my siblings and his kids spent all their time playing a very complicated scripted game. I tried to join in at one point, and they actually handed me a script and made me read it. They stopped me halfway through one of the lines, however - the line was "Well, she IS an incredibly unusual girl" and one of JRB's older daughters told me that we were replacing the words "incredibly unusual" with "stunning." I asked why, and she just shrugged and said, "Ah, well, you know, the kids decide they want to change something and then it just gets stuck this way." For some reason this struck me as an intense violation of my artistic integrity and I decided I couldn't play this game anymore.

Eventually Uncle Andy showed up. I gave him a hug, but he frowned at me and said, "That's a terrible hug." So I hugged him harder and that one was apparently okay. He then told us that he just wanted to come out here to announce that he was marrying a girl named Cassidy the next week. He'd met her on Facebook.

At some other point in the dream, there were these two bad guys stealing a pie from a shop. I ran up to them and beat them up and took the pie away from them, but the pie started jiggling and wouldn't stop. What had apparently happened was that the adrenaline from my attacking people had gone into the pie and now it was all energetic and couldn't stop moving. Instead of finding this disturbing, we thought it was hilarious, and carried the pie around with us wherever we went to show people.

With lots of rhyming, no-handed push-ups, and TTTRNA
I had this very long dream. The earliest point in it I can remember is watching some weird reality show which was basically the American Idol judges just sitting around ranting about nothing in particular, telling anecdotes and stuff. Simon talked about this TV review paper he was a part of in England, called TTTRNA, which apparently stood for "Don't Let This Fashion Turn Into Rubbish About Your Life," which was their slogan and basically asked them to stay objective in their reviewing.

When I saw that, I thought, "TTTRNA, if you pronounce that 'Turna' it rhymes with 'Smyrna.'" And then I had a conversation with Dad about Bennifer and Brangelina, except at this point in time apparently Brad had left Angelina to return to Jennifer Aniston. Dad said, "Well, that's such a coincidence, because this Anglican king named Mr. Smyrna had a dog that also left someone named Angelina for someone named Jennifer."

Then Seth said something about mangling and wrangling and how THEY rhymed (I was really into rhymes, apparently) and then all of a sudden he fell down and landed on his wrist. I said something like, "Well, let's hope your wrist doesn't just dangle now!" because I was playing with the rhyming some more. He held up his wrist and it did indeed just sort of dangle off to the side, indicating there was probably something wrong with it. He refused to believe it,however, and started doing push-ups to prove that he was okay. He didn't do very well, though. He said to me, "Some people have a hard time doing the bending thing with their hands," he said, referring to bending their elbows when they did a push-up. "But look, I can do it with no hands at all!" And he got down on his stomach and sort of scooted up and down and around, which I guess was supposed to be no-handed push-ups.

Where I'm in Stephen Fry's acting class
I dreamed I signed up for intermediate acting at the college, and it turned out it was being taught by Stephen Fry. I looked him up online because I thought he was still doing his TV show QI in England, and Wikipedia said, yes, he was, but when he wasn't over there he was teaching college in the States. So I figured, hey, cool, that works, and went to the class. (A few times Hugh Laurie wandered by to visit and sit in on the classes. One of those times he was wandering around the cafeteria looking lost and I asked him if he was looking for the acting class. He said yes, and followed me down to where the class was.)

Our first assignment was really more like the performance of lit assignment - we had a book of poems and we had to choose one of them and recite it. I chose one that, turns out, was written by Stephen himself. I told Dad, "That way he'll tell me what it means and I won't have to come up with my own interpretation!" The poem started off with a line about little yellow hard hats bobbing in the darkness, and there was a verse later on about little ducks. I asked him what it meant and he went on a long rampage about nuclear war. Then he told me that this poem would be more effective if I dressed in a cowboy outfit and recited it in a southern accent, so I said okay.

Then it was the day of the performance. I was sitting with my mom and dad watching the other performances (and, actually, so were a LOT of people, despite the fact that it was just supposed to be a small assignment). Suddenly I realized that we hadn't had ANY practice days between my assignment and the performance, and I hadn't memorized any of my poem. I wondered if I could go and memorize it really fast, or maybe print it out and read it instead of reciting it.

I ran off to a computer lab to print it, but when I came back, everyone was walking out of the theater. Turns out PJ was there, too, and for some reason was being *really* loud and disruptive and yelling greetings to people in the front row during the performances, and the police came and shut us all down. Stephen was very, very miffed about it but I thought, "Cool! Now I won't have to actually recite my poem!"

Where Dad accidentally writes the suicide song
I dreamed that Dad and Mom were playing some stupid game where they had to combine all the titles from their favorite B.J. Thomas songs (I just remember "I Just Can't Help Believin' That Purple Rain Keeps Fallin' On My Head" ... although "Purple Rain" ISN'T a B.J. Thomas song) and then all the words from every one of those songs got written on a piece of paper and they took turns randomly drawing pieces to make the lyrics to that song. It actually was a very coherent song, but it was all about suicide. Dad decided this was the best song ever and went around asking everyone if they'd heard the suicide song.

With lots of car accidents...
I dreamed that I was meeting up with Jamie and Cathy from The Last 5 Years, but somehow there was time travel involved, where I had to go back in time with them and keep them from meeting, because if they met they'd get in a car accident. Going back in time, though, I also ran into Mom, who was clearly in college and didn't recognize me. (No, I did not watch Back to the Future last night.)

Car accidents seemed to be the theme here. At another point in the dream, Dad was driving me somewhere, and then he slowly turned around and began driving back the opposite direction, but he was in the wrong lane, so he was heading straight toward a bunch of cars. I screamed at him for a bit, then grabbed him around the neck and somehow moved him so that he was going back in the right direction. He got really mad at me and started yelling about how I couldn't take a joke.

There was also a portion where I got a CleanFilms version of some movie with John Cusack in it, but they kept not editing out really disgusting gory parts (nearly all about car accidents). At one point, someone got stabbed in the middle of the forehead with a pen, which was gross, but at another point there were three people whose heads had all been cut off and were now roasting in a pan. I kept going, "I can't believe they left this part in! I don't want to see it! Ew! Gross!"

With Mom's high school friend and the subs
I dreamed Mom met an old friend from high school who she felt badly about because apparently this friend had had a disability and Mom hadn't treated her with much respect. She invites the friend over for dinner and, during dinner, says, "I've got something to show you," and lifts up her skirt to show that her right foot's been amputated. The friend says, "I've got something to show you, too," and it turns out the exact same thing happened to her and for some reason this makes them better friends.

There was also a subplot where Mom bought a bunch of Subway sandwiches and for some reason they all had to be eaten right away. Two of them were Dad's but he wasn't downstairs yet, so Mom told me I could eat them until he was ready. But he never showed up, so I ended up eating like four subs.

Where Dad and I have a conversation about movies
I dreamed I was having a conversation about movies with Dad. I gave him my very coherent (and real-life) revelation about Will Ferrell, how I keep thinking he's going to be really obnoxious and then seeing him in movies and he really isn't. To which Dad replies, "Did you hear that they CleanFilmed 'Elf' except they called it 'True Pump'?" I said, "...What?" And he started laughing and said, "Oh, it was just a pun. I'm making a joke."

Where I singlehandedly ruin Jen's wedding
I dreamed that it was Jen and Evan's wedding again, except I was supposed to be a bridesmaid. I showed up at the church on the day of the wedding, and someone gave me my bridesmaid's dress. It looked exactly like the dress Felicity wears on the cover of the book Felicity's Surprise. The blue thing.

I went off to the bathroom to put it on. I still had my giant broken-foot boot on, and for some reason I kept taking the boot off and putting it back on, trying to get it to look okay. I heard the opening music playing in the sanctuary, and muttered to Bethany, who was around somewhere, "Oh, great! I'm NEVER going to get over there in time!" Suddenly the music stopped and I heard Evan say, really ticked-sounding, "Stop the music. Someone's late." Then, a moment later, Mr. P knocked on the bathroom door and when I said he could come in (I was just about ready), he opened the door and snarled at me, "Sheesh, hurry up, will you?"

For some reason Jen and her attendants weren't walking down the aisle, they were coming out of the rooms behind the stage, so when I was finished I walked down the aisle and into the back room, where Jen was crying because her wedding had been messed up. I started crying too because I felt so bad, and kept going, "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry," and then said, "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have been part of this, I'll just go" and was about to take off, but Jen said, "No, now that you're here we might as well go through with this."

So the entire wedding started all over again. Jen went out first, and then the attendants were supposed to follow her, one at a time...except this time the girl AHEAD of me had trouble with her dress and wasn't going out on time. I thought, "Okay, I'll give her some extra time and I'll go out first." Except somehow I ended up walking up the stairs and then back down through the baptistry, and as I walked out I noticed that the other bridesmaid had gotten her stuff figured out and was also walking out of the stage door. Jen looked up at me and I knew that she was going to start crying again because I had ruined her wedding AGAIN.

There was also a portion of the dream where I was at SEMP and called my dad up and apparently Simon from American Idol had been hanging out with my dad a lot while I was gone. And I went to go visit my friend Laura from school, but instead I met her mom and younger sister, who looked EXACTLY like her. It was creepy.

Where Christy's parents are mad at me
I dreamed that Christy's parents suddenly got really, really mad at me for something, although I didn't know what. I couldn't reason with them, so Mom and Dad decided to take them out to dinner and try to talk sense into them. I waited eagerly for Mom and Dad to get home, but when they did, they were storming around. They had a styrofoam box full of leftovers, and were throwing them all over the place. "Those people are just entirely unreasonable!" my mom said. "So we stole their food."

Where my sisters and I are running away
I had an incredibly long winding dream. I had two little sisters - the youngest one was about five and named Pom-Pom and the other one was probably thirteen or so and named something normal like Jane. We were running away for some reason. Along the way we realized that there was treasure where we were, hidden in people's homes, and we decided to find it. We didn't know exactly what the treasure was, but we were definitely going to find it.

We would ask people if we could stay at their house, and then find out something weird was going on, search the house, and usually find nothing, except the owner would find out what we were doing and chase us out. In one instance, Pom-Pom and Jane and I ran across about twelve fields of . . . grass, actually, being chased by several girls, one of which was Kellie from American Idol. Eventually we made it out by each leaping over these nine-foot wooden fences (even Pom-Pom). We knew Kellie wouldn't be able to follow us.

It was at this point that we found these holes in the ground. Next to them was a newspaper that talked about how aliens might have landed here. We got all excited and decided that something alien-related was the treasure we were looking for.

The bulk of this story took place at a farm, which was the next place we went. The people there were awfully nice. They gave us each our own room (mine had a computer in it), even though they had like six kids.

The day after we got there was Sunday, so we all went to church with them. We sat up in the very, very front of the church, and at the end of the service there was a potluck. Several people came up to us and introduced themselves, including a guy who was clearly my stalker from school, except his name was, like... Dr. Hall or something.

We started talking, and at this point everything kinda meshed over into real life, because my parents were suddenly there, and as "Dr. Hall" and I talked, it turned out he was entering the Phidian writing contest as well. Then he pulled out a checkbook and wrote two checks and gave them to me. They were both made out to me, but one was $12 and was for Phidian, and the other was like $111 or something weird and said on it "for college and knowledge".

I started protesting that he couldn't pay for my Phidian entry OR my college education, and at that point my dad came up and said, "So, what are you doing?" I tried to explain what Dr. Hall was trying to do, and my dad looked ULTRA disapproving. (As was I!)

So I went home to the farm, where apparently I was still living, even though my parents were around, and every night when I checked my email Dr. Hall's email would be waiting for me. I'm not sure how he got my email, but it started creeping me out a lot. So Pom-Pom and Jane and I decided to leave.

The next house we found was an older woman's. When we went in, Pom-Pom was covered in disgusting, drippy mud. She looked a bit like No-Face from Spirited Away when it was covered in the guck. She walked right into the woman's house, went to the toilet, and threw up.

As we investigated the house, we didn't find any suspicious things. We were about ready to leave until Jane remembered that when the old woman had given us a tour of the house, she said of the attic, "Once when Gertie was coming down the stairs, she hurt her toe." While we hadn't any idea who Gertie was, we concluded that this must mean there was something suspicious in the attic. We searched around up there and finally triumphed - we found a blue nail and a blue poker chip.

We decided this would be the best moment to leave, so we crept out the back yard gate, only to find a giant ferocious dog that was apparently the woman's. We slammed the gate shut and realized that she didn't want us to just sneak out.

Where the youth play has songs in it and Dad breaks Mom
I had a dream that at one point Jayme and Dianna were going to re-write the spring play so that it had songs in it. I wasn't too sure about this idea, so I read through some of their re-writes. They had definitely re-written it as an Oregon Trail diary, with lots of bad songs that were parodies of real songs. However, I decided to try one out, so I had the drama team try to practice one that was written to the tune of "You're the Top". Considering most of them couldn't sing, it sounded really good.

Next thing I knew, I was getting up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. My mom and dad's room is right next to the bathroom. For some reason I decided to open their door (to say good night to them, I think). When I opened the door, my mom was trying to exercise, and Dad was apparently trying to help her out. He had picked her up and somehow scrunched her up until she was practically in the fetal position. She started screaming that she'd never be able to straighten out again, so he quickly let go of her and she landed on the bed. But it was true, she wasn't able to straighten herself out. She just sort of lay there on the bed, trying to move back into normal position and shaking.

Where I get roped into being a gang member
I dreamed we were over at Holly M's house and her parents were trying to get me this subscription to a music newsletter. I thought this would be kind of cool, so I signed up for it. It was only a short time later when I realized it wasn't a music newsletter at ALL. It was a gang. What they did was, they would randomly pick someone on the list, and then pick someone else in the neighborhood, and assign the person from the list to go kill that person in the neighborhood, and if they didn't, well, then they would go kill THEM and go kill that person.

I was assigned to kill an elderly lady, so I went to her porch and knocked on the door. I wasn't going to kill her, just warn her. She answered the door and was really cranky, yelling things like, "Get off my porch!" I warned her about what was going on, and she suddenly had a heart attack and died.

I went back to the M's and asked them what was going on and they told me they honestly thought it was a music newsletter, too. I got really worried and started asking, "Well, how are we going to get out of this?" and Dad said, "There may not BE a way out."

Where I have to find the earring
I dreamed Mom and Dad were king and queen of some place. We were all in the boys' room, and they tossed me this earring. I caught it, but then the clasp fell off and rolled underneath this HUGE pile of stuff that was sitting in the room. I looked up at them and they said something like, "Well, you'd better find it, or you're in trouble!" So I began rooting through the pile of stuff. It took me hours and hours, and I was getting more and more frustrated and more and more angry and finally I just starting sobbing, "I CAN'T DO IT!" There was also some minor plot point where I was trying to catch a bus, but I was late because I had to find this earring. I woke up crying.

Where there's a bunch of bugs in the car
I dreamed Nathan, Dad, Joel, and I were driving to Missouri, and suddenly Joel began to cry. When I turned around, I saw a giant spider about the size of a coconut sitting on the dashboard. It had a giant purple body that kind of looked like a balloon. Then, a minute later, there was a swarm of bees in the car, too. Dad was like, "Hannah, don't look, you don't want to see this!" But of course it was too late, I had already seen it all by then, and I told Dad so.
