With theater gangs and the runaway little girl
I dreamed that there were these two rival gangs in the theater department at HU. If you EVER tried to do the same scene or monologue as someone in the other gang in the same year, you would probably be killed. One girl was the other group was doing a scene from Company that apparently involved her running up and down the halls crying hysterically. Well, I was really sad that day for some reason, so I ran up and down the halls of the MCA crying hysterically. The girl told me that I would be killed for this.

This stressed me out quite a lot (as you can imagine) so I decided to go to class to calm down. I couldn't find my backpack though, and looked all over the MCA. I ended up accidentally stepping on a pile of newspapers, and someone screamed. Turns out it was Bryce, who was napping there. I apologized and kept looking.

At some point I was going to see this production of Company in the studio theater here, and my parents were here, too. As soon as the lights went up, my parents BOLTED out a side door. I was embarrassed at first but then I realized that a little African-American girl in a frilly white tutu (about 10 years old or so) had run out the side door first and was trying to throw herself over a railing to the cement floor below. My parents grabbed her and brought her back to her seat, but she just kept running out there. For some reason we all in the audience thought this was the funniest thing in the entire world, and I laughed until I cried. When I woke up, I was still laughing.

Where I visit NLDC for an hour and wait forever for Dad
I dreamed NLDC was really only 5 hours away, so one day I decided to visit them, but it was just going to be for a couple hours. I'd leave at like 7 so I'd get there around noon, but then Mom wanted me back by suppertime so she told me I needed to leave by one. I tried to negotiate with her to let me stay and have supper with them and THEN drive back, but she really wanted me to leave between 1-2 in the afternoon.

There was also something really ominous with an ice cream shop... I think I was waiting there for Dad to pick me up and take me home from something. He was only about 20 minutes away so I waited for a really long time and finally, I called Mom to ask if he had left yet because he was two hours late. She said yeah, he left about two hours ago, but she didn't seem concerned at all that he hadn't made it there yet. I went to go get some food from the ice cream shop, but they were closed. The two employees were still there, though, and started looking for the copy of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy that they kept behind the desk. They told me that the best way to calm me down would be to read that to me. (It was the Douglas Adams book, not the book mentioned IN the Douglas Adams book. The second one would have been more helpful, given the "DON'T PANIC" on the cover.)

Where I get in trouble for explaining Voice & Movement
I had a dream I was trying to teach Mom about the stuff I'd been learning in Voice and Movement, but she wasn't quite getting it, she was mostly just doing weird poses. But then Jay showed up and yelled at me and said she wasn't getting it because I was explaining it wrong, and only trained professionals were allowed to talk about these techniques.

Where Philip Seymour Hoffman dresses up as an 8-year-old
I dreamed Philip Seymour Hoffman was doing a publicity stunt where he tried to pass himself off as an 8-year-old boy named Kenneth. He over to my house and played in our giant pool where he basically was a disgusting idiot and peed and vomited in it, but my parents wouldn't make him leave. They kept saying, "He's just a sad little boy with no family," and I was like, "He is NOT a sad little boy! He's PHILIP SEYMOUR HOFFMAN!"

Where I haven't attended any of my classes
I dreamed I was going back to Sauk and had signed up for all these classes and remembered three weeks in that I hadn't gone to any of them yet, and some of them were even at someone else's house and not at the college at all. I was making Mom drive me around to each individual one. For one of the classes, I was supposed to have read four chapters in my textbook by the beginning of the third week. It was 10:30 and my class started at 11, so I was rushing to read as much as I could by the time class started, but I just knew it wasn't going to work out.

Where I go book shopping before we go to Rhode Island
I dreamed we were flying to Rhode Island for a cousin's wedding (not sure whose) and decide to stop by a bookstore before we went to the airport. This bookstore was run out of a neighbor's garage and once it had been just like a series of books on worshipping the dead, but now there were all sorts of books. I went through picking up books and then realized I didn't have any cash with me, so I asked Nathan to go back to the house and get some. When he came back, Mom was with him. She looked at my stack of books and told me I wasn't allowed to get any with toys attached. For some reason I had picked up all these little kid books that DID have toys included with them, so I sullenly threw them all in a pile since I wasn't allowed to have them. I went up to pay for the books and saw that they DID take Discover credit cards, although mine's a Visa, and there was something there about accepting debit cards, but it was pretty much super confusing, like you had to text your bank and ask them to put money in your account by saying "SHUFFLE [however much money you wanted]."

At another point in the dream we were packing the van like we were going on a road trip, although we were just going to the airport. Dad told each of us to bring two pillows and a blanket for the plane, but then gave us a huge lecture on how ANYTHING we brought in the van had to stay in our seat with us.

Where I let the kids watch an evil movie
I dreamed I had some extremely gory slasher movie on my laptop and decided to let the kids watch it, except halfway through I decided it was a bad idea, so I turned it off. Then I felt stupid for letting the kids watch it, so I made them promise not to tell Mom and Dad.

Where Mom's upset about The Goodbye Girl
I dreamed that Mom went on a huge rant about how The Goodbye Girl had the foulest language of any movie she'd ever seen. I didn't remember it having nearly that much bad language, and kept saying, "I don't think so..." But she insisted she had never been so offended by profanity in her life. I felt somewhat guilty because I had made her watch it without realizing there was so much in there that she'd object to.

At some point I also had a four-cassette special edition version of the Pete's Dragon soundtrack.

Where I'm in a school musical
I dreamed I showed up at acting class to discover I was in next week's big production. Not only that, it was a musical. My instructor gave me the helpful advice, "Just think of a song, and then you sing it." Unfortunately, every song I could think of, someone else was already singing it. (We practiced by all singing our songs at once, to each other.) Finally I settled on "I Can Do Better Than That."

In another part of the dream, Elizabeth Taylor threw Mom a birthday party.

Where Dad accidentally writes the suicide song
I dreamed that Dad and Mom were playing some stupid game where they had to combine all the titles from their favorite B.J. Thomas songs (I just remember "I Just Can't Help Believin' That Purple Rain Keeps Fallin' On My Head" ... although "Purple Rain" ISN'T a B.J. Thomas song) and then all the words from every one of those songs got written on a piece of paper and they took turns randomly drawing pieces to make the lyrics to that song. It actually was a very coherent song, but it was all about suicide. Dad decided this was the best song ever and went around asking everyone if they'd heard the suicide song.

Where I learn things in my sleep
I dreamed my family and I were being chased by an evil president who wanted to make it illegal to talk about God on MySpace. We were hiding in his hotel suite when Mom suddenly decided to explain to me how we had the Bill of Rights and the Constitution and even though he was an evil president, he couldn't do all that much to us because we had these rights. (Turns out, when I woke up, everything she had told me in the dream was stuff she had been telling the kids during school. Apparently I was hearing all that, right down to a statement she made about evil presidents not being able to do all that much to us.)

With lots of car accidents...
I dreamed that I was meeting up with Jamie and Cathy from The Last 5 Years, but somehow there was time travel involved, where I had to go back in time with them and keep them from meeting, because if they met they'd get in a car accident. Going back in time, though, I also ran into Mom, who was clearly in college and didn't recognize me. (No, I did not watch Back to the Future last night.)

Car accidents seemed to be the theme here. At another point in the dream, Dad was driving me somewhere, and then he slowly turned around and began driving back the opposite direction, but he was in the wrong lane, so he was heading straight toward a bunch of cars. I screamed at him for a bit, then grabbed him around the neck and somehow moved him so that he was going back in the right direction. He got really mad at me and started yelling about how I couldn't take a joke.

There was also a portion where I got a CleanFilms version of some movie with John Cusack in it, but they kept not editing out really disgusting gory parts (nearly all about car accidents). At one point, someone got stabbed in the middle of the forehead with a pen, which was gross, but at another point there were three people whose heads had all been cut off and were now roasting in a pan. I kept going, "I can't believe they left this part in! I don't want to see it! Ew! Gross!"

With Mom's high school friend and the subs
I dreamed Mom met an old friend from high school who she felt badly about because apparently this friend had had a disability and Mom hadn't treated her with much respect. She invites the friend over for dinner and, during dinner, says, "I've got something to show you," and lifts up her skirt to show that her right foot's been amputated. The friend says, "I've got something to show you, too," and it turns out the exact same thing happened to her and for some reason this makes them better friends.

There was also a subplot where Mom bought a bunch of Subway sandwiches and for some reason they all had to be eaten right away. Two of them were Dad's but he wasn't downstairs yet, so Mom told me I could eat them until he was ready. But he never showed up, so I ended up eating like four subs.

Where Christy's parents are mad at me
I dreamed that Christy's parents suddenly got really, really mad at me for something, although I didn't know what. I couldn't reason with them, so Mom and Dad decided to take them out to dinner and try to talk sense into them. I waited eagerly for Mom and Dad to get home, but when they did, they were storming around. They had a styrofoam box full of leftovers, and were throwing them all over the place. "Those people are just entirely unreasonable!" my mom said. "So we stole their food."

Where the youth play has songs in it and Dad breaks Mom
I had a dream that at one point Jayme and Dianna were going to re-write the spring play so that it had songs in it. I wasn't too sure about this idea, so I read through some of their re-writes. They had definitely re-written it as an Oregon Trail diary, with lots of bad songs that were parodies of real songs. However, I decided to try one out, so I had the drama team try to practice one that was written to the tune of "You're the Top". Considering most of them couldn't sing, it sounded really good.

Next thing I knew, I was getting up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. My mom and dad's room is right next to the bathroom. For some reason I decided to open their door (to say good night to them, I think). When I opened the door, my mom was trying to exercise, and Dad was apparently trying to help her out. He had picked her up and somehow scrunched her up until she was practically in the fetal position. She started screaming that she'd never be able to straighten out again, so he quickly let go of her and she landed on the bed. But it was true, she wasn't able to straighten herself out. She just sort of lay there on the bed, trying to move back into normal position and shaking.

Where I have to find the earring
I dreamed Mom and Dad were king and queen of some place. We were all in the boys' room, and they tossed me this earring. I caught it, but then the clasp fell off and rolled underneath this HUGE pile of stuff that was sitting in the room. I looked up at them and they said something like, "Well, you'd better find it, or you're in trouble!" So I began rooting through the pile of stuff. It took me hours and hours, and I was getting more and more frustrated and more and more angry and finally I just starting sobbing, "I CAN'T DO IT!" There was also some minor plot point where I was trying to catch a bus, but I was late because I had to find this earring. I woke up crying.

Where I accidentally delete Shiksa Goddess
I dreamed there was a very large, very creepy windstorm outside. Both Mom and Dad had been killed. For a short time Norbert was in our house, but then he was killed, too. As I was washing dishes, I noticed his cell phone sitting on the kitchen counter. I opened it up and really it worked like an Ipod. It had four songs on it, three of which were dark, scary, chanting music. The fourth was "Shiksa Goddess". I was really relieved that I had something cheery to listen to if I needed it.

A bit later Caitlin, Annie, and Laura all showed up. Caitlin and Annie showed up at my house to surprise me on their way home from Mexico, and Laura was just sitting at my computer playing Petz 3.

Suddenly I discovered I'd deleted "Shiksa Goddess", and this fact distressed me more than all the deaths.

Where Mom yells a lot at Jason
I dreamed that I came home from an acting class and told Mom and Dad that Jason just screamed at me the whole time. Mom went ahead and wrote him a VERY angry, irate email. And then I suddenly remembered I'd made the whole thing up. Oops. :-/

Where I audition for The Wizard of Oz
I dreamed I auditioned for a community production of The Wizard of Oz, but I said something rude to the director and he decided he hated me. So then I auditioned and he came running up to me and said, "If I were giving grades on these, you would get an 'F' for 'Forgiven'!" Which meant I got the part.

Our rehearsals were in a tiny tiny room of this house on an island that Mom and I somehow drove to, and then we went up to the room and the guy was still auditioning people. He said we could watch as long as we didn't say anything, but Mom kept talking and I kept trying to get her to be quiet.

Where Dad talks about breakfast
I dreamed Dad was incredibly grateful to Mom because she served him a different breakfast every day of the week. He started listing the breakfasts she sometimes served him and they included mashed potatoes, and "north", which was some sort of roast beef meal.
